    • Mrs. J.W. Dismukes Rites at Floresville by Miss Annie Reese
Last rites for Mrs. J.W. Dismukes, 85 who died sunday Sept. 22, at the Holmes Memorial Hospital, were held Monday afternoon at the Murray Funeral home in Floresville, the former home of the Dismukes family.
The remains were taken there Sunday afternoon by Seydler Funeral home that had charge of local arrangements.
Services were conducted by E. O. Stewart pastor of the Church of God at Sweetwater of which Mrs. Dismukes was a member, in the presence of numerous relatives and friends from near and far, gathered to pay her memory a final tribute.
Passages from the scriptures given during the service included 1st Corinthians, 15; Job, 14:15; Samuel 6:5; Isaiah 15:25; and Romans 5:12.
The dear familiar hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", and a special favorite, "Land Where We Never Grow Old" marked the service.
Brief graveside services were held in the cemetery out from Floresville where the remains were committed to their last resting place beside those of her husband who passed away years ago, the family living at Floresville for years. Sung as a closing hymn, was "Land That is Fairer Than Day".
Acting pallbearers were three grandsons, Billy Ray Dismukes, James Dismukes, Jr., J.B. Dismukes Jr.; two nephews, Edwin and Ernest Ward; and David Termin.
Numerous beautiful floral sprays marked her last resting place.
In attendance were many relatives and friends from San Antonio, Beeville, West Columbia and Brazoria.
Mollie Harriet Dismukes was born at Hochheim May 22, 1870, daughter of W.E. Lipps, native of Germany and Mary Kaye Lipps native of New York, pioneer citizens of the Hochheim area, where she was reared.
Surviving her are four sons. J. E. Dismukes, San Antonio; Boothe of Floresville, Sterling of Marfa and Marvin of Beeville; seven grandchildren and 5 great grand-children; a brother, Otis Lipps of Farwell, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. W. W. Patterson of this city with whom she had made her home for the past eight years.
Mrs. Dismukes also leaves a number of nieces and nephews including Mrs. Carroll Smith and E. L. Johnston of this city.
Preceding her to the "Home Over There" were four sisters, Mrs. Bill Johnston, widow of Sheriff Bill Johnson of Gonzales; Mrs. J.W. Crawford and Mrs. Brower Broer, also of Gonzales and Mrs. Abby Owen and a brother John Lipps.
Reared in a christian home where she was taught all the finest and best in the principles of christian womanhood, Mrs. Dismukes was a devoted wife and mother and a humble servant of her Lord.
